Dermal fillers are injectables used to plump areas where volume is lost due to aging, genetic factors, or sun damage. There are many types of dermal fillers, but we use hyaluronic acid (HA) and calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) primarily. While there are many kinds of aesthetic options for anti-aging, CaHA provides results beyond hyaluronic acid’s ability. While HA fillers fill in depleted spaces, that is the extent of their actions. CaHA, on the other hand, is the only injectable option that gives you immediate results plus long-term improvement because it stimulates collagen and elastin production. Both fillers have great benefit and results, and location is the main determining factor of which filler is used. Our board certified nurse practitioner, Brittany Holcomb, FNP-C, utilizes the most up-to-date techniques and advanced technology to reverse time and provide a natural, youthful appearance.
HA fillers are used to brighten the tear troughs, fill in etched lines, in the lips, and around the mouth. CaHA fillers are used to build a bony contour in the cheeks, jawline, and chin. When CaHA is diluted, it can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, arms, thighs, elbows, abdomen, and buttocks.
HA fillers last anywhere from 6-18 months, and CaHA fillers last 18 months when used for volume replacement. When diluted, CaHA can be used to improve skin tone, texture, and elasticity. The patient can maintain these results for years.
Fillers can be sensitive in certain areas, mostly the lips. We use our triple numbing technique to make this procedure as comfortable as possible. Other areas, such as the chin, jawline, cheeks, and tear troughs are not generally painful but may be mildly uncomfortable.
